Columbia River Caddis

Hook: Dry Fly Size 16 to 12
Thread: 8/0 Black
Shuck: Olive seal dubbing
Body: Black fentex yarn
Hackle: Black neck
Wing: Fine elk hair

Tie in a good base layer of thread.

Tie in a small amount of green seal fur, at the hook bend, and pull out to excess to form a trailing shuck.

Tie in a strand of black fentex. This will be used for the body later.

Tie in a hackle, by the tip. This will be used to palmer the body later.

Wrap fentex forward and form a thin body.

Palmer hackle forward over body.

Stack some elk hair and tie in for the wing.

Trim excess elk hair to form a small head.

Whip finish and the fly is ready for those summer caddis hatches.
