Glass Bead Caddis Emerger

Hook: TMC 2457 Size 12 Scud
Thread: 8/0 Olive
Wingcase: Olive Sow Scud Dubbing
Shuck: Olive Sow Scud Dubbing
Body: Green/Blue Killer Caddis Beads
Wing: Short/Fine Deer Hair
Head: Peacock Herl

Slide 3 killer caddis beads onto hook and slide to the eyelet.

Tie on thread at the back of hook.

Take some sow scud dubbing and tie in, at the back of hook, to form a wingcase and a trailing shuck.

Pull wingcase dubbing back and tie a thread bump at the back of the hook so the beads won’t slide past the bump.

Bring the thread forward in front of the beads and pull the wingcase dubbing over the beads.

Take a small, stacked clump of deer hair, measure ½ the length of the body.

Tie in as the wing.

Tie in one strand of peacock herl.

Wrap in to form the head.

Whip finish and the fly is ready for a caddis hatch.

HI Don,

Thanks for the great vids! I learn so much from them :)

Would you use this for the Columbia? My inlaws live in Castlegar and I'm always looking for patterns to try.

Thanks

Hi Don,
Is this fly supposed to float in the surface film??

I tried a couple and they sink pretty fast -beads too big??
thanks
