Gold Beadhead Chironomid

Hook: TMC 2487 Size 14
Thread/Tag: UTC 170 Red
Rib: Red Copper Wire
Body: Black Superfloss
Thorax: Peacock Herl
Head: 1/8 Gold Tungsten Bead
Gills: White Antron

Tie in a small clump of white antron for the gills, whip finish and cut thread.

Slide bead onto hook with the larger bead hole towards the eyelet.

Tie on thread and wrap a small red butt on the hook.

Tie in the red copper wire. This will be used to rib the fly later.

Tie in the black superfloss and wrap forward to form the body. Pull the superfloss tight to keep the body thin.

Take the red copper wire and make 5 to 6 wraps, over the body, to form the ribs.

Tie in one peacock herl and wrap behind the bead to form a small thorax.

Whip finish and the fly is ready for spring.
