GP Nymph

Hook: Mustad C49S Size 10
Thread: 8/0 Black
Bead: 1/8 Gold Tungsten
Tail: Orange Pheasant Fibers
Body: Burnt Orange Dubbing
Shellback: Olive Pheasant Tail
Wingcase: Olive Pheasant Tail
Rib: Small Copper Wire
Legs: White Goose Biots
Thorax: Rusty Brown Dubbing

Slide bead onto hook and tie in the black thread.

Take about 10 orange pheasant fibers and tie them in, the length of the hook, for the tail.

Tie in a length of small copper wire. This will be used to rib the fly later.

Tie in some olive pheasant tail. This will be used to create the shellback later.

Dub burnt orange dubbing onto thread. Keep the dubbing THIN!

Wrap dubbing forward, about 2/3 up hook, to form the body.

Bring pheasant tail forward to form shellback and then wrap over shellback, 3 to 4 turns, of small copper wire.

Tie in some more olive pheasant tail, which will cover the thorax later.

Tie in white goose biots, on either side of fly, to form the legs. They should be as long as the body.

Dub on some rusty brown dubbing onto the thread.

Wrap dubbing forward to form the thorax.

Bring pheasant tail over thorax to form the wingcase.

Pick out thorax dubbing to make the fly look bushy and alive.

This pattern works great on an indicator in faster riffle runs. One of my favourite nymph patterns when the fishing gets tough.

bead or beadhead might be another good tag.
