Green Drake

Hook: TMC 100 Size 14
Thread: UTC 70 Olive
Wing: Pheasant Neck Feather
Tail: Green Pheasant Rump Fibers
Body: Light Olive Dubbing
Rib: Thin Yellow Floss
Hackle: Green Neck Hackle

Tie in a tail about 1/2" long.

Tie in the wing by pulling the barbs, on the feather, down and tie in by the base and barb tips.

Make a wing by splitting the feather in half by pulling the feather tip into two halves.

Trim off excess feather from wing tips.

Tie around front and back of wings to form two upright and divided wings.

Wind thread to back of hook and tie in the ribbing.

Dub a tapered body onto the hook to form a tapered body.

Rib fly with 4 to 5 yellow ribs.

Tie in a hackle, behind the wing, and wrap forward to form a nice, full hackle on the fly.

Whip finish and the fly is ready.

How did you add the yellow floss? Could you give me more detail on how you started and tied off the floss? Thanks

The yellow floss is added like any other ribbing material and is then wrapped up over the body to form the rib. Tie the floss off BEHIND the hackle before you tie it in.

Hope this helps,

Don
