Lightning Bug

Hook: Size 14 Dry Fly Hook
Thread: 8/0 Olive
Bead: 1/8 Silver
Tail: Pheasant Rump Tips
Body: Holographic Tinsel
Thorax: Peacock Herl
Legs: Pheasant Rump Tips
Wingcase: Holographic Tinsel

Slide bead onto hook and tie in some Pheasant rump tips for the tail.

Tie in some Holographic Tinsel and wrap forward to form the body.
DO NOT cut off excess tinsel. Pull back the extra tinsel, which will be used for the wingcase later.

Tie in a few strands of peacock herl and wrap forward to form the thorax.

Take a pheasant rump feather and cut out the tip. This will be used as the legs for the fly.

Lay pheasant rump legs over the thorax, pull extra holographic tinsel over the legs, to separate them, and then tie off. Remove excess tinsel after tie off.

Whip finish and the fly is ready for those days when the fish are KEYING ON EMERGERS!

The new shows are in the editing suite and have to be ready for all the new start dates in April. I would expect the Victoria station will be one of the first to get the new shows....I hope.

Thanks for watching.
