New Zealand Damsel

Hook: Size 12 curved pupae hook
Thread: 8/0 Olive
Tail: Olive Marabou
Rib: Copper Wire
Hackle: Black Hackle
Wing: Olive Marabou


Tie in a small clump of Olive Marabou for the tail.

Tie in some Copper Wire, which will be used for ribbing later.

Tie in a black hackle by the tip.

Dub or tie in some more Olive Marabou and wrap forward to form the body.

Rib fly with about 6 turns of copper wire and then wrap hackle forward to hackle the body.

Tie in another clump of Olive Marabou and form a wing that is slightly longer than the body.

Whip finish and the fly is ready for those warm June days when the Damsel Nymphs are migrating to hatch.
