Stack some deer hair, measure the length of the hook and tie in for the tail. |

Move thread forward, ¾ of the way up the hook, and tie in a calf tail wing. |

Tie thread around base of wing so it stays upright. |

Cut wing so it is about ¼" high. |
![]() |
Move thread to back of hook and dub some hare’s ear dubbing onto thread. |

Wrap dubbing forward to form a tapered body. |

Tie in a grizzly hackle and wrap, parachute style, around wing. |
![]() |
Dub more hare’s ear onto thread. |
![]() |
Wrap hare's ear in for the head.
Whip finish and the fly is ready to catch those selective trout. |
