Parachute Green Drake

Hook: Size 12 TMC 100
Thread: Wapsi UTC 70 Black
Tail: Moose Mane Tips
Body: Olive Fentex
Ribbing: Yellow Monocord or floss
Wing: Dark Olive Calf Tail
Legs: Olive/Grizzly Neck Hackle

Measure 4-5 moose mane tips to be the length of the hook.

Tie the moose mane tips in at the bend of the hook.

Move the thread forward about ¾’s up the hook.

Tie in a small clump of dark olive calf tail.

Tie in front and around the base of the calf tail to form a single upright wing stem.

Move the thread to the back of the hook and tie in a strand of olive fentex and the yellow monocord or floss.

Wrap the olive fentex forward to form a tapered body and tie off behind the wing stem. (Do not cut off excess material).

Wrap the monocord or floss forward to form 4 to 5 bright yellow ribs on the fly, tie off and cut excess.

Tie in one olive/grizzly hackle, wrap around the wing stem, parachute style, and tie off.

Take the excess olive fentex, make two wraps behind the wing and then wrap in-front of the wing to form a small head on the fly, making sure the fentex is wrapped under the hackle.

Whip finish, head cement and the fly is ready for the water.
