Red Bead Leech

Hook: Size 10 Partridge YK6ST Swimming Nymph
Thread: UTC 70 Red
Bead: Medium Blood Red Bead
Tail: Black Marabou with 4 strands of Black Crystal Flash
Body: Purple/Black Dazzle Link Dubbing

Slide bead onto hook and then wrap a base of thread onto the hook.

Take some black marabou and measure the length of the hook.

Tie in the black marabou for the tail and tie the rest in to start to fill in the body.

Take 4 strands of black crystal flash and add to the top of the tail.

Make a dubbing loop with the dazzle link dubbing. Form a long enough loop with a small space.

Lay on some dubbing material.

Spin the dubbing until it is tight.

Wrap the dubbing loop forward to form the body. Keep it nice and bushy.

Pick out dubbing so the body is nice and bushy, then push the picked out dubbing towards the tail.

Whip finish and the fly is done.

Hello Don,
A belated Happy New Year to you and yours. I just saw the very interesting episode on Whiteswan Lake w/ Brian Chan.
On the bench features your "Redeye Blood Leech". I cannot remember the Mustad hookstyle you used for the size 12 pattern.
Could you please let me know the exact hook type.
Many thanks,
Henry
