Rubber Leg Attractor

Hook: TMC 2302 – Size 8
Thread: UTC 140 White
Tail: Red Pheasant Crest
Body: Red Floss
Wing: White Calf Tail
Overwing: Green Crystal Flash
Collar: Deer Hair
Head: Caribou Hair
Legs: White Rubber Leg Material

Take a red pheasant crest feather and tie in for the tail.

Tie in a strand of red floss and wrap forward to form the body.

Stack some white calf tail and tie in for the wing.

Take 6 strands of green crystal flash and tie in for an overwing.

Stack a small clump of deer hair and tie in for the collar.

Take some white rubber leg material and tie in a set on each side of the hook.

Take a clump of caribou hair, pull the forward legs back and spin the hair, in front of the legs, to start forming the head.

Keep spinning on the caribou hair to form a thick, spun head and whip finish.

Take the fly from the vice.

Trim the caribou hair to form a wide, flat head.

Cut forward legs so they are about ¾" long and cut the back legs so they are as long as the wing.

The fly is now ready for your favorite cutthroat stream.
