This Week's Upload: Series 6 Ep. 15 Missouri River

This week, Don and Grant fish the amazing Missouri River near Helena, Montana, USA. The time of year is late September, and the fish are active and feeding. On The Bench, Don ties up the Lightning Bug, an effective little nymphing pattern.

hey don love the show been watching for a long time ! don i was watching you do some tying @ the bench and you had said you were useing some carpet product for hackle . don you seem like a reel good egg but do you realize the chemicals in that product fire retardents etc also found in most womens breast milk!! don you could make a huge positive impact buy going green.you could be a reel leader in this regard and maybe make a lot of money. Hey if nothing else think of the generations to come thinking of you taking the lead .fishing history take the leed be the 1st HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hi Don, I'd love to try your "Bulldog", but, unfortunately, I'm not a tyer. If you ever have the free time, could you send me a half-dozen you've tied (just send me a price, and I'll send you a check), or point me to a source that ties them to your exact specifications. Thanks for your consideration. Walt

Hi Torsten,

We are very conscious about using proper materials when tying and the wing material I refer to is not actually carpet but Z-Lon fly tying material. I only refer to the fly as the carpet caddis, since the Z-Lon does look like carpet.

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the input.

Hi Walt,

I do not commercially tie but maybe I should start after all the requests I have had for this fly :)

I am not sure who would have some but we may be starting our own line of flies in the very near future. We will keep you posted on the website and there are some very cool things coming to the site this spring....stay tuned!
