Whiteswan Lake

Don Freschi and Brian Chan fishing Whiteswan LakeWhiteswan Lake Provincial Park is located 10 minutes from Canal Flats in South Eastern B.C. There are plenty of camping spots and the fishing is second to none. We filmed for the week of June 15th and had a real mix of weather... the mornings were warm and sunny but the big rain clouds rolled in each day by late afternoon. The fish averaged 17" to 19" and were feeding heavily on both Chironomids and Mayfly nymphs. Since I was with Brian Chan, we wind drifted indicators on dry lines in about 12' of water and also moved onto the Marl flats to sight fish for cruisers. Whiteswan can produce fish well over 26", so I highly recommend this scenically stunning and easily accessible lake.

One fly (a mini-bugger type) that I have not seen on your site is the Pumpkinhead.
Common with users around the Kamloops area, it is a very good fly as originally tied. Some variants have proved good as well.
An alias on http://forum.flybc.ca/ name of JOHNK also has posted info on a variant that he indicated was darned good. My own experience with the original was decent this summer with several large fish landed at Sheridan as well as One Island Lake south of Dawson Creek.
I would suppose the owners of the major flyshops around Kamloops would know all about it as well.
Hi, guys. Great show-great info. Never been to Whiteswan, but hopefully next year! Talked to a guy at "my lake"(Fawn) last week, and he said that someone-YOU?- made a show at Watch Lake in the Cariboo a while ago. I sure would like to see it sometime. Can you help me?
Hi Guys,
Love the new site. Is the tv show not available anywhere but WFN now? I looked for it last Saturday and couldn't find it. Don, as a longtime viewer, I get a kick out of the fact you need glasses to tie now! Not being mean but I've been tying commercially for 15 years and started requiring glasses 5 years ago. I guess no one is immune!
I was the caretaker at Tunkwa for ten years and I can't remember if you filmed a show there. I believe I saw one on Leighton and I know you've taped several shows with Brian on Morgan but not sure about Tunkwa. By the way I'm the originator of that stupid little woolly bugger, the pumpkinhead and it seems to work pretty good alright as the other commenter elluded to.
Anyways just wanted to check in and say hello and let you know how much I enjoy your episodes and the new up and running site. Good stuff and keep it up!
Regards,
John Kent
I really enjoy your show , I get it WFN and wild channel . I'm wondering if you ever fish Alberta's lakes and small streams and if the fly's your tying will work in my provinces.
