Hi Don
I like the new web site. I'm trying to find something on tying the fly that you call the bulldog. Can you send some the information. The fall fishing is coming and I think that the bulldog would be a great fly to have in my fly box.
thanks Mike
Good show .....would be better if you got a decent camera man.....ever seen seasons on the fly.....you guys could be like that show....something to shoot for!.
You guys are the best, i love your show. It stands above the rest. Probably because you are not holding back all your secrets. I fish a lot. I am looking forward to following your blog. Look us up if you ever do anything in Utah my buddies and i know this state backwards, and what people dont know is that we have some great pieces of water. Thanks for all you guys do. I was happy to hear you guys were back up, but I'm even happier to hear about the (free!) content you're offering! Keep up the good work!
Congratulations on the Great new site! Can't wait to see it grow!
I have been following your show for many years when I can get it in my neck of the woods.
In my opinion you have the best and most informative fly fishing show on the air.
The technology, the bugs, the bench, the setup are all great segments.
It is a little different not seeing Grant but still a great product.
Will you be putting series 1 through 5 on the site.
Keep up the good work and information, Mike
Love the show! My wife erased the episode that you tied up the bulldog on the bench before I could try tying one. Could you post the pattern?
Hey don.
Great show and even better website.
I was trying to find the Columbia river episode at Trail and cannot seem to find it. We are planning a trip in late April, any suggestions on where to put in and take out? What kind of fishing can we expect, swinging streamers or is there any early hatches?
Any advice you can give us would be appreciated!
Tight lines!
John
Hi John,
The best place to put in would be the Genelle or Gyro park boat launch. They are all day floats and the fishing should be outstanding as it always is that time of year. Swinging streamers seems to work the best and drifting large stonefly nymphs is also a winner. You will hit some midday BWO hatches but only the smaller fish (up to 3lbs) will be after them. Stick to the streamers if you want the big boys.
Have fun and thanks for watching.
Don, I watch SFOTF whenever I get the chance and find it an exceptional show, thank you, but I need to make comment , when you and bulldog are fishing your favorite bar on the Skeena and catching 3 salmonoid species and steelhead, you talk about flies and how the fish move to them. You also talk about how coloured the water is because of the rain and that you need to split shot your line so it is bottom bouncing. So really whats happening in that clouded water is actually flosslng, any fish coming close to shore, which you know they mostly always do, is potentially on your line. Next time your on your favorite bar just check out how many are hooked up on the opposite side of their face, in the corner of the mouth. Possibly 8 or 9 out of 10. Some hooks do slip past that corner and get hooked on the near side but never in the beak. 25 years ago I started bottom bouncing the fraser, for years thinking that you had to be using green wool, when it really does not matter what coulor you use (it is illegal to use a bare hook, because then you are actually snagging). This is not meant to be derogatory, please reply to my email if you find time, keep up the great work. monty
Hey Don!
The site is amazing! I watched you speak at the Symposium last weekend and just wanted to say that your enthusiasm for the sport really sparked something in me, your outlook was to simplify and not mystify the sport and i feel i came away a more confident angler as well as very proud to be a fly fisherman .... thanks a million, can't wait to see all you do for the sport in the future and im excited to do my part to get my younger generation excited about fly fishing!!
Tyler.
