Confused: I watched your program last Dec 30th on WFN. All about Walleye. You stated 9ft then 5ft leaders? Then you said that the Chartreuse fly you were using was not catching any fish, and you changed over to a pink zonker strip fly.
When you came to the 'on the bench', the fly you tied was with a chartreuse and stated that this was the best color for walleye.
Which color rabbit strip is for walleye's ? and which is the correct leader/tippet combination.
My guess is that you advise a 9ft, 2X leader, up to a 3 point swivel, up to a 5 ft tippet. The Hulk fly you tied is for steelhead,
and for Walleye, it should be a pink rabbit strip.

Pls correct me.

Hi Erik,

The Hulk is a GREAT pattern for Walleye...it just wasn't working for them on that particular day, so we tried pink and it worked. Just one of those fun things about fishing :)

You are correct when you stated 'I was using a 9ft LEADER to the swivel and then about 5ft of Tippet'. This setup works great with a dry line or sink-tip.

Pink is better for Salmon and Steelhead but the Hulk does work once in a while....its much better for Walleye.

Thanks for watching and I hope I have helped clear up your questions.
