Don,

I recall seeing an "On the Bench" episode where you used "something" to paint gills or stripes on the side of a bead on a beadhead chironimid, to customize the fly.

I looked online to see if I could find the episode, but no luck. Could you tell what it was you used? Or better yet, what would you use to colour material, rather than a bead?
